In the 15th century, glass-blowing genius Angelo Barovier created Cristallo: almost colourless transparent glass. Beauty can rarely be contained however much the Venitian government tried: by the end of the 15th century, the craftsmen sought a better life in Northern Europe and took their art with them. They founded factories to share the skills learned at home, and the world is all the more beautiful for it.
