Inspiration
Exquisite architecture is everywhere in Jaipur. The opulence is perhaps expected, given that it is the capital of Rajasthan - a state translated as "Land of Kings". It is the kind of place that turns scientists into poets: famed physicist C.W. Raman proclaimed Jaipur the "island of glory".
Whilst it is commonly called "The Pink City", blue is the colour of the day here. The flowers sprawling across the cloth are marigolds of stunning sapphire and they scatter across the cloth as if blown by a breeze. But that implies chance, and the interlacing inner border and the surrounding stripes show the craft at work. A beautiful piece depicting a beautiful place.
