Some tablecloths cover a table. This one transforms it. Hand block-printed by artisans in Rajasthan using carved wooden blocks and a tradition that has barely changed in five hundred years, our Palm Tree tablecloth turns an ordinary surface into something guests talk about long after dinner is over. The pattern — sweeping palms, rich ground, the slightly imperfect repeat that only a human hand can produce — is bold enough to anchor a whole room and considered enough to live with every week.

This is our most popular tablecloth. It is the tablecloth people come back and buy again for someone else.

Inspiration
The Story (expandable tab — "About this piece") Block printing is one of the oldest textile traditions in the world, and Rajasthan is where it was perfected. In workshops in and around Jaipur, craftspeople carve intricate designs into blocks of teak wood — each block a tool that may be used for decades, passed between hands, worn smooth with use. The block is pressed into dye, aligned by eye, and stamped onto fabric in a rhythm that takes years to master. The result is a pattern that no machine can replicate: consistent enough to be beautiful, irregular enough to be alive. Our Palm Tree design draws on the grand botanical prints of the 18th and 19th centuries — the kind that hung in the orangeries and conservatories of country houses, where the tropical and the domestic existed in wonderful collision. The palm is a motif of warmth, abundance, and a particular kind of relaxed confidence. It belongs on a table set for a long lunch in July as naturally as it does on a table lit by candles in December. Every tablecloth is printed and finished by hand. The slight variation between pieces is not a flaw — it is the evidence of making. Available in 3 sizes. Material Instructions: Wash in cold water at 30 degrees without the use of bleach. Dimensions 4-6 seater: 150x220cm 8-10 seater: 180x270cm 12-14 seater: 180x340cm Care: Machine wash at 30°C — cold wash preserves the print longest First wash: expect slight colour deepening as the dye settles — this is normal and desirable Do not tumble dry — lay flat or line dry to preserve the drape Warm iron on the reverse to restore crispness before use Do not dry clean Colour note: Block prints photograph beautifully but never quite as richly as they appear in person. The depth of colour is best experienced at the table. Origin: Handmade in Rajasthan, India by skilled artisan craftspeople
