Gianna was very much her father’s daughter, despite his absence - first due to politics, then due to his death. The world may have stood between Gianna and Giuseppe, but her honouring of their relationship outlived them both, as she wrote his posthumous biography, receiving the Premio Campiello for her ode in 1971.
