Inspiration
A hand-painted ceramic flamingo candelabra.
Their elegant forms taking to wing, the flamboyance of flamingos takes off into the evening sky. The pink flock is dazzling in the fading light, but in an instant become silhouettes as they sail past towards the sun, into the dusk.
Mankind has always been slightly obsessed with flamingos, particularly in the ancient & classical worlds. In predynastic Egypt, the flamingo hieroglyph referred to the colour red (personally I’d have used it to mean pink, but I’m sure they knew best) as well as Wrath and Blood. Eek. Thankfully, the Romans came along and totally changed the tone; the flamingo became a symbol of wealth, status and love. A lot has changed since the 7th Century though, and we think it’s time to give the flamingo some new symbolism. What do they represent to you?
Some of us would love a pet flamingo, strutting about the lawn… But upon failing that, this delightful candelabra can bring more joy to your life than a real flamingo ever could. Set it up with some pink taper candles and light up your life with this wonderful creature.
