She was in the Resistance, fighting so she and her lover Severino could be together in their dream space: the haven they'd build overlooking the Marmarole, a mile up in the mountains. But weeks before the end of the war, her dream of living in the mountains with her husband was taken from her: Severino was killed in April 1945. Zangrandi was devastated - and her dream changed. She built and ran an alpine refuge for those in need - found on Monte Antelao in Northern Italy. Violence took her love, but her dream survived - a reminder that life continues after all the bloodshed.
