Tamegroute Green Vase

£169

Materials

There's a reason this shade of green never quite matches from one vase to the next. It comes from a glaze of copper and manganese that's fired in underground kilns in Morocco's Draa Valley, and it behaves more like weather than paint, pooling deep in some patches and thinning to pale in others depending on how the heat moved through the kiln that day.

Each piece is hand-thrown and hand-glazed in Tamegroute, using techniques that have barely changed in generations. That's not a claim so much as a warning if you're expecting two vases to look alike. They won't. That's rather the point of buying something made by hand rather than a machine.

Use it alone on a console table and let the glaze do the talking, or sit it next to worn brass and old books, where the green looks like it's always belonged there.

Made in Tamegroute, Morocco.
