A vibrant cotton tablecloth with an impressionistic print of the bold, sunburst motifs of traditional Uzbek Suzani embroidery. Its patterns evoke the great caravan routes of the Silk Road, and this fine printed rendition will endure gatherings of friends year after year.

Drape over a long table for a feast in summer, or double as a wall hanging when the mood for colour outlives the last of the summer sun.

Inspiration
Somewhere between Samarkand and Bukhara, a courtyard is cooled by surrounding mulberry trees, where a bride-to-be learns from her mother and aunts, needles threaded, silk unspooling into the flowers.

Suzani — from the Persian word for needle — has been stitched by Uzbek women for centuries, each panel worked slowly, the memory of its maker found in the stitchwork. When complete, it’s gifted as part of a bride's dowry. The sun medallions and pomegranate blooms are intended to invoke fertility, protection and a long, literally fruitful marriage.

JJ would use it to add textural interest to an otherwise undecorated wall, or drape over a table with delightfully clashing tableware.
