A charming addition to your tableware, the fine grooves and richly coloured glaze create an impression of the bitter vegetable. These radicchio salt and pepper shakers in red borrow from historic pottery traditions from ‘majolica’ practices influenced by England, France and Italy since the 16th century.

Place upon your table for an unexpected accompaniment to your Sunday roast. These are certainly a conversation starter!

Inspiration
Sicilian pottery carries many traditions in its multicultural history: cultural motifs have converged, becoming their own unique traditions. Les Ottomans celebrates the intermingling of culture itself: the founder is Italian, yet the designs are inspired by years spent along the Bosphorus.

The peculiar, dare we say, humorous appeal of the sculptural radicchio is rooted in a particular European pottery tradition. This tradition of pottery was shaped into realistic natural forms such as vegetables, fruit and snakes, popularised by Victorian England. Perhaps the most famous example is ‘Cabbageware’, originating from Portugal. Today, these influences intermingle freely, with centuries of tradition in your hands as you season your plate.
