We’re often apart from the people we love. Sometimes it’s temporary; sometimes, sadly not. But no one’s gone whilst we remember them, be it in pictures or stories.

Guiseppe Manzini - a renowned anarchist - was exiled by Mussolini in 1921, and cast out to a commune in Tuscany. Gianna was very much her father’s daughter, despite his absence - first due to politics, then due to his death. The world may have stood between Gianna and Giuseppe, but her honouring of their relationship outlived them both, as she wrote his posthumous biography, receiving the Premio Campiello for her ode in 1971. But if you’re not the writing kind, a good photograph with a beautiful frame is enough.
