JJ ducked into a tiny haberdashery off Rue Saint-Antoine when caught in a sudden downpour. The shop owner, Monsieur Laurent, was arranging velvet ribbons by color - deep greens and burgundies that he said were ""les couleurs de Noël classique."" His hands moved quickly, tying perfect bow ties with practiced ease. ""My grandmother made these same bows for the grand hotels,"" he told JJ, smoothing the forest green velvet. ""Structured, you see? They hold their shape on wreaths, on packages, anywhere you need a touch of..."" he paused, searching for the English word, ""sophistication, oui?"" JJ bought several of each color, charmed by their old-world craftsmanship. JJ places the green bows on fresh garlands and the burgundy ones as dramatic accents on wrapped gifts or nestled into candlelit tablescapes.
