This candle suggests perhaps the most famous Sicilian tradition in hand-sculpted earthenware: the Testa di Moro. A woman’s face is adorned with a crown of lemons.

Handmade in Sicily, let the lemon scent transport you to the winding streets where this piece was made. When the candle is finished, continue to use it as a sculptural trinket holder or dish for your (forgotten) keys.

Inspiration
Among the olive groves and lemon trees of Sicily, a centuries-old tradition of pottery unassumingly unfolds to this day. It is one where makers shape earthenware from the soil, their hands leaving subtle, everlasting impressions on the organic shapes they make.

The island of Sicily is a central point of historic convergence. From Arab to Greek, the influences upon the island have forever shaped its cultural traditions, particularly its pottery. Vegetal motifs are widely associated with the practice of ‘Majolica’, a European pottery tradition. So now you have a historic talking point on your table as well as a bountiful crop of earthenware!
