The design on these splendid rococo plates was first commissioned by the Duke of Gloucester in 1770, who wanted something more lively and casual for his tables. The colourful fruits and insects give off a cosy air of fairy-tale and whimsy, while still being grounded amongst the tastes of Georgian high society. They’ll add colour and elegance to any meal they grace with their presence.
These lavish pudding plates are perfect for, well, puddings! Cake tastes better served on these. They are quite visually demanding pieces though, so if you’re planning on making them a regular feature at the dinner table, and will go with almost any linens.
Care instructions: Dishwasher safe, although we recommend washing by hand to maintain these pieces for longer.
